PokeCab Rides is Now an Actual Thing!

PokeCab Rides is Now an Actual Thing!

"Gotta catch'em all!" -- customers, that is. As your premiere taxi dispatch system, Gazoop is committed to staying on top of all of the latest industry trends. With the emergence of "Pokemon Go" comes interesting and lucrative opportunities for your taxi business to make money off of the games' growing user base, and we've written a guide on how to implement this in to your business.

Okay, What is "Pokemon Go"?

It's a travel-based game where people are supposed to walk around in the real world and catch digital monsters as they appear on their phone screens. The game requires constant movement and exercise as players are expected to walk great distances to make their "Pokemon Go" monster eggs hatch and collect bonus gifts from various "Pokestops". As strange as this sounds, it has captivated the hearts and minds of gamers from all over the globe.

Over the past few days we've received an increase number of Support tickets from fleets asking to create pricing and rules for "Pokemon Go" taxi rides, we're pleased to say this is possible within the Gazoop system!

Honestly though, you don't have to be familiar with the "Pokemon Go" lore to smell the financial opportunities. All you need to know is that there is a game people from all over the world are obsessed with, and they are literally willing to pay you by the hour to drive around to various in-game hot spots, or to simply drive at a slow speed that simulates walking so their eggs will hatch.

Taxis are a safer alternative!

Almost immediately upon its release, "Pokemon Go" began to cause more negligent accidents than you could imagine as kids began to fling themselves off their bikes, skateboards, or simply fell over on foot while staring at the imaginary monsters on their smartphone screens (don't believe us? Just read this Washington Post report -- https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-switch/wp/2016/07/08/pokemon-gos-unexpected-side-effect-injuries/). By offering "Pokemon Go" taxi rides, you're offering a safe escort to go and "Catch'em all!".

"Pokemon Go" Taxi Rides Could Revolutionize the Industry

This game's popularity could last for ten minutes, or it could last for ten years. Pokemon itself has existed since the mid-90s and shows no signs of slowing down. Therefore, offering "Pokemon Go" taxi rides, complete with beverages and snacks, could be an easy way to rack in an easy profit.

Think of it this way -- there's a game that requires you to drive slowly (saving money on gas), and to drive great distances (drastically shortening the wait time between new customers). Essentially, people are willing to pay higher hourly rates to be aimlessly driven around -- it's as if this game were made for the taxi industry!

With our app, you will have all of the tools you need to start your own "Pokemon Go" cab ride safari hunts and start raking in the extra income. You can thank us later!

How do I implement "PokeCab" rides in my account?

There are various methods of doing this, below are the three basic methods you could use within the Gazoop software:

Method 1 - Create a new Fare Table

If you go to Localisation Management > Fare Tables you could add a fare table called "PokeCab 2 Hours" and set the pickup fee as a flat rate, or alternatively, set the per minute rate to your offer rate so that the ride is charged at the correct rate per hour.

Method 2 - Create an Add-on Item

If you go to Localisation Management > Add-on Item Pricing you could add "PokeCab Hour" and allow the driver to specify the quantity of hours used, per person if you wish, and add this at the end of the journey. This would mean that rides would need to be submitted as a zero rate job, which may not be ideal.

Method 3 - Create an Advance Rule

You could create a rule so that if "Pokemon" is entered in the booking notes, or as a voucher in the customer booking form on your sites, it changes the fare table to your Pokemon fare table by default. Once done, you could create additional rules to detect if the Pokemon Table is specified to see if the notes specify a quantity of hours, or add fees for more passengers. Advance rules is the best way to customize your system to suit all pricing models but can be tricky. If you need help with this, do feel free to reach out to our Support team.
